What the Dallas source records establish

Of the 942 Dallas records in this snapshot, 913 are classified as Flock, 25 as Other ALPR, and 4 have an unknown manufacturer. These categories follow explicit OpenStreetMap tags, not the camera's appearance or the agency mentioned in a news story.

Only 8% of Dallas records have a documented operator. A manufacturer label identifies the equipment maker; it does not establish who owns it, operates it, or can search its data. This snapshot cannot support a complete Dallas Police Department inventory, even where the manufacturer is known.

Dallas city limits, not the Dallas-Fort Worth area

This count uses the official Census Place boundary for Dallas, Texas. It is not a Dallas County total, a Dallas-Fort Worth metro total, or a circle drawn around downtown. A source point must fall inside or on that boundary to contribute to this page's statistics.

Dallas Police program updates

In its September 1, 2026 funding statement, Dallas Police announced cancellation of 321 state-grant-supported Flock cameras effective September 15, 2026. The department said more than 300 Flock cameras would remain in its program. The announced effective date has passed, but this review has not verified completion or the number still operating. That announcement concerns a police program, not every publicly mapped ALPR point inside Dallas.

Separately, Public Safety Committee item 26-2696A listed a Flock program briefing for September 8, 2026. The agenda was last verified on September 5; the meeting outcome has not been verified in this review. An agenda listing is not an adopted decision.

We have not matched the announced cancellations to individual OpenStreetMap records or verified their completion. The announcement therefore does not remove 321 points from this map or establish which markers remain operational.
